On Saturday, 6 November 2004, forty Amsterdam museums stayed
open from seven in the evening to two in the morning for this
year's Museum Night. The annual event was started
in 2000 in an effort to attract new, younger visitors to museums.
All the participants put up special programmes of events. Naturally
the permanent displays and temporary exhibitions are also on
show.
ABN AMRO has been the main sponsor of Museum Night for five years.
By supporting unique art projects the bank is able to show its
involvement in society at large and in the interests of its
customers. The bank's own clients and associates benefit from the
sponsorship arrangement through reductions and other perks. Museum
Night is also made possible by Stichting Doen, Het Parool,
Amsterdam municipality, MTV, Merloni and Beck's.
