War monuments

The Hollandsche Schouwburg stands in the Amsterdam district known as Plantage, right on the edge of the city's former Jewish Quarter. The Plantage district still holds many memories of the Jews who once lived there. For instance, there is the former head office of the General Diamond Workers Union (the ANDB), the Portuguese Israelite Hospital, both on Henri Polakstraat, and Wertheim Park. At various points there are memorials to World War II, recalling the persecution of the Jews. Some of these monuments are shown on the map.
