The Hollandsche Schouwburg is open daily for individual visitors as well as groups. Tours are conducted by experienced docents. Two programmes have been developed as teaching aids, one titled Evil on the Block intended for first year secondary schools; the second, Combination programme Great Synagogue/Dutch Theatre, is intended for younger audiences in elementary schools. These programmes are at present only available in Dutch. Another way of visiting the Hollandsche Schouwburg is as part of a guided walking tour of Jewish Amsterdam.
Both educational programmes take as
central motief the words: Seeing leads to remembering and
remembering leads to doing. By actively involving young people
in the history of the location and the role the building fulfils
today as a war memorial, they are made more aware of the part they
can play in ongoing history.

Naturally, groups are most welcome to visit the Hollandsche
Schouwburg without having a museum docent to guide them. In such
cases we recommend that you give prior notice of the time your
group expects to arrive; please notify the public affairs
department.
