An appeal for paintings

In the course of research conducted recently
for the new exhibition, it emerged that the Hollandsche Schouwburg
was also used as an art gallery in the spring of 1942. The Van Leer
Foundation organized a campaign that year to support Jewish artists
by purchasing their work. These works were exhibited at the
Hollandsche Schouwburg ('Joodsche Schouwburg') from early April
until the end of June 1942, after which they were distributed on
loan to the premises of diverse official Jewish institutions.
The research department of the Hollandsche Schouwburg plans to draw
up an inventory of the current whereabouts of the artworks
concerned, brief descriptions of which are given below, and is
asking the general public to help it do so.
