Originally a theatre, it was here in Amsterdam's Plantage
district that thousands of Jews were forced to report for
deportation during the Second World War. Today, the Hollandsche
Schouwburg is an educational monument. The memorial lists the 6,700
surnames of the 104,000 Dutch Jewish victims, engraved on the wall.
There is also an exhibition on the persecution of the Jews, telling
the story of the role of the Hollandsche Schouwburg.
