Over two years Julie-Marthe Cohen,
curator at the Jewish Historical Museum, worked on the publication
Neglected Witnesses. The Fate of Jewish Ceremonial Objects
During the Second World War and After. The publication
consists of of ten articles by museum experts and researchers from
Amsterdam, Vienna, Prague, Budapest, Frankfurt, Warsaw and Los
Angeles on the Nazi plunder of ceremonial objects in several
European countries and on the worldwide dispersion of these objects
after the war.
The publication reflects the complexity of provenance research of Jewish ceremonial objects and other categories of objects that are often poorly described, and contains images of objects and other relevant documents, such as those of the ERR.
The International Institute of Social History (IISH), the Jewish
Historical Museum and the NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust, and
Genocide Studies jointly organize a lecture by Julie-Marthe Cohen
on Wednesday 19 October. In this lecture, Cohen will focus on the
publication Neglected Witnesses and on the JHM
WWII-related database.
Location: Auditorium, Jewish Historical
Museum.
Admission: free entrance by showing your JHM
