On Monday 17 and Tuesday 18 September we celebrate
Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah). It is a time to reflect, and to
help try to make the world a better place. Ten days of
soul-searching follow in which Jews repent the wrongs they have
done over the past year. Introspection opens the door to change. On
Wednesday 26 September is the Day of Atonement (Yom
Kippur).
The Jewish Cultural Quarter - the JHM, the JHM Children's Museum,
the Portuguese Synagogue and the Hollandsche Schouwburg - is closed
on 17, 18 and 26 September. During these Ten Days of Repentance the
Portuguese Synagogue will be open for services.
In December 2012, the JHM presents an exhibition about the Jewish
cuisine. Come by, experience and enjoy the stories, recipes and
flavours.
