Fiep
Westendorp was born in 1916 in Zaltbommel, the Netherlands.
As a child, Fiep already knew she wanted to become an
illustrator for stories and rhymes. She was one of the
most famous illustrators in the Netherlands. Think of
the drawings in the stories of Annie MG Schmidt:
Jip and Janneke, Floddertje, Puck van de
Petteflet and Otje. Since the
fifties, almost every child in the Netherlands grew up
with the drawings of Fiep Westendorp. Fiep passed away
a few years ago, however, her drawings are still alive.
The Fiep Westendorp Atelier was made possible by the
legacy of Fiep Westendorp and Margot Rehfish.
