Hallah dish

Shabbat begins on Friday evening at sundown, and Shabbat candles are lit by the woman of the house. A blessing is said over a cup of wine (kiddush), to sanctify the Shabbat. A blessing is also said over the children. After the hands are washed and a blessing is said for the two loaves of traditionally plaited bread (hallah) the festive meal begins.
